May 1, 2009 Every Member Campaign:

Hello!
It was a pleasure meeting many of you and your colleagues at the AFP International Conference on Fundraising in New Orleans.

The Every Member Campaign is in full swing now and I would like to thank you for serving as your chapter's foundation development chair, or as we like to say, FDC. Your service as your chapter's FDC for the 2009 Every Member Campaign is very important. Combined with our direct mail and calling programs, your personal interactions with members allow AFP Foundation for Philanthropy to reach every member. Thank you!

As always, if you have any questions - big or small - about the Every Member Campaign, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am happy to help in any way that I can.

    100 Percent Board Participation

Board members who give to the Every Member Campaign lead by example. It is difficult to ask the AFP members in your chapter to give, if your leadership does not.

The following AFP Chapters have let us know that they have achieved 100 percent board participation in the 2009 Every Member Campaign as of April 16.

    AFP AZ, Southern Arizona Chapter
AFP CA, Greater San Fernando Valley Chapter
    AFP MA, Western Chapter
    AFP NJ, New Jersey Chapter

For recognition in e-Wire and in the 2009 EMC Calling Program, please report this outstanding achievement to the Foundation by May 1, 2009. You can find the 100 Percent Chapter Board Participation http://www.afpnet.org/ka/ka-3.cfm?folder_id=935&content_item_id=14950"

Fulfillment of 2008 Every Member Campaign Pledges

Pledge fulfillment is very important to the foundation's annual fund. If donors in your chapter have not fulfilled their 2008 Every Member Campaign pledges, please encourage them to do so. Combined with the foundation's monthly pledge reminders, your personal encouragement will help to achieve our goal of increasing our fulfillment rate.

For a list of your chapter's outstanding pledges for 2008, you can access the Chapter Tally Report at AFP Information Central. (For more information on accessing AFP Information Central, please see below.)

03/24/09 ALLEGHENY MOUNTAINS CHAPTER HONORED AS TEN STAR CHAPTER

(Alexandria, Va.) - The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Allegheny Mountains Chapter has been named a 2008 Ten Star Chapter.

Every year, AFP, the largest association of professional fundraisers in the world, honors chapters for achieving goals that align with key objectives in its long-range strategic plan. Chapters receive the Ten Star Award for performing specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. Of the 200 chapters in AFP, 74 chapters received the Ten Star Award for 2008.

"We are very proud of the work our chapter and board have accomplished" says Gunter Volders Vice-President of Communications for The Allegheny Mountains Chapter of AFP. "Our chapter covers a large geographical area and we make every effort to serve our members to the fullest.  Receiving the Ten Star Award is a reflection of that works." Volders continues.

Ten Star Chapters are recognized at the AFP International Conference on Fundraising. Chapters also earn the privilege of displaying the Ten Star logo on their chapter page on their website, newsletters and stationary.

"Chapters that have earned the Ten Star status have shown their dedication to AFP and the promotion of ethical and effective fundraising," said Paulette V. Maehara, CFRE, CAE. "They serve as models for our other chapters, and I am pleased to honor their leaders and members for their tremendous work in advancing our strategic plan and educating the public about the importance of giving and volunteering."

Criteria for the award are determined by AFP International Headquarters. A list of several goals is published annually, and chapters must accomplish 10 of these goals during the year and submit a nomination form for verification to be honored.
